Skies Behind announce heartfelt new single ‘Hopeful/Nowhere’, with Irish and UK tour

Skies Behind made waves this January with the release of The Spaces EP which saw listeners across Ireland and the UK take notice of this emerging group's eclectic, compelling and dynamic sound. Reaching a broader audience than ever before, several tracks on this release made it on Spotify’s Alternative Ireland and New Music Friday UK playlists. A debut UK tour, several headline dates around Ireland as well as notable support slots with Cherym and Fangclub has seen the band continue to build on their live show.

“an astonishing display of impassioned performance and gripping songwriting.”

Skies Behind continue to build on their standout year with the release of upcoming single ‘Hopeful/Nowhere’. This track showcases the bands willingness to explore new sounds and genres, while also reinforcing their penchant for a stadium ready rock song. A certain growth in the group's songwriting chops is evident throughout. ‘Hopeful/Nowhere’ is full of lush layered guitars and soft keys, while developing with a vulnerable and intimate quasi-ballad vocal, it still rises to an undeniable, surging chorus.

This latest single from the Cork outfit was recorded over two days in Otterhead Studios with two-time Grammy winning producer Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, Everything Everything). Adrian reached out to the band having come across their previous releases and resonated deeply with their work. Bushby and the band came together to bring this live/crowd favourite into the studio and realise its full potential.

The upcoming months sees the band back on the road, with a series of headline shows around Ireland and the UK. These gigs will see the band playing ‘Hopeful/Nowhere’ as well as a host of freshly written, ready to be road-tested tunes.

On ‘Hopeful/Nowhere’ vocalist Dan Sheedy has said:

“This is a track that has grown with us over a few years. It’s one that I wrote after meeting someone really special at a very low, difficult time in my life. It’s a love song that’s not just about the person you love, but how the right person can help you through the uncertainty of our future, and even find hope in that.”
