Deer Park Avenue

Crucible

1 August 2024

Hi,

Indie rock sister duo Deer Park Avenue are releasing their single CRUCIBLE Friday August 2, ahead of their album of the same title. It's a big year for DPA: their single charted Top 50 at College Radio, they debuted at SXSW in Austin, they're tapped for the big stage at Hamburg’s famed Reeperbahn 2024, and they're prepping for a European tour Fall/Winter 2024. This groundbreaking sister duo is one of Europe’s fastest-rising indie acts, with GRAMMY-winning producer Reto Peter (Green Day) at the helm.

We're fans of the magazine and feel the song would be a strong fit for your audience. Please let me know if you’d like to set up an interview with the band, or if you would like more information - happy to provide anything you need. I’ve included all links with the press release below for easy access.

Thank you for your time – it’s much appreciated.

Deer Park Avenue Announce New Album, Release Genre-Bending Anthem, “Crucible”

Europe’s rising rock sisters burn brightly with scorching new alt-pop anthem

Rock sister duo Deer Park Avenue is leaning into genre-bending sonic fusions this summer. Their new single “Crucible” – the title track of their new album – is a stunning alt-pop-ambient-grunge-rock anthem with a twist. The cinematic track from sisters Sarah Snyder (vocals, guitar) and Steph Snyder (drums, vocals) captures the process of being refined like gold in a fire, turning your suffering into your superpower.

“Crucible” pairs GRAMMY-winning producer Reto Peter (Green Day, Modest Mouse) with Europe’s fast-rising indie duo, recently supporting U.K. rockers Coach Party and headlining clubs across Germany and Switzerland. “Crucible” marks the broadest pop appeal the band has had to date.

“‘Crucible’ is about being refined like gold in the fire, and deciding what we will let our suffering do to us,” says Steph. “The crucibles in life test your heart and show you who you are and what really matters to you.

“One of our favorite lines from The Killers is in their song ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’: ‘If you can’t hold on, hold on.’ We hope ‘Crucible’ will help everyone find the courage to hold on one more round, or ten, however long it takes. You matter and you will make it.”

“We can’t always make sense of the bad things that happen to us,” says Sarah. “It’s about finding meaning in suffering, listening for the voice of strength in the fire that calls us to keep going. We can’t choose what we go through, but we can let these trials, these baptisms by fire, make us bitter, or make us stronger.”

“We wanted the listener to embark on a dramatic sonic journey towards the fire, with Sarah’s vocal taking the lead,” producer Reto Peter says. “An intricate arrangement of guitar, drum, and synth layers accomplished the emphasis on dynamics, tension, and release.”

“Crucible” follows an impressive run of new releases, from the groundbreaking single “Cave” to the synth-punk of “Queen of Disaster,” which they debuted at Austin’s prestigious SXSW Festival. The sisters are champions of independent art and have become known for combining unexpected genres in unique ways that “shouldn’t work, but do” (Keep It Rock Magazine).

From their garage beginnings in California, to their Swiss-roots power-pop debut Conscious Mess in 2020, to their fresh brand of melodic indie rock played to thousands at summer festivals, this Munich-based duo is making an indelible mark on the rock scene.

“People are ready for bands that break the rules and expectations of how a certain genre ‘should’ sound,” Sarah says. “We’re so inspired by bands just doing their own thing on their own terms. That’s what’s great about the music industry right now.”

After crafting countless new songs during lockdown, Deer Park Avenue hit the studio to record their highly anticipated follow-up to their debut album. The band’s provocative artwork by Ian from Graphik masterfully combines intriguing combinations of the sisters’ different moods and expressions, reflecting the overall theme of their project.

Sarah and Steph are Indian-American sisters based in Munich, Germany. They are voting Recording Academy (GRAMMY®) members and have toured internationally in the US and across Europe supporting artists such as Palaye Royal, Coach Party, Bebe Rexha and Stefanie Heinzmann. Their technical prowess on their respective instruments has earned them endorsement deals with Epiphone, Paiste Cymbals, Blackstar Amps, Alvarez Guitars, Dixon Drums, and Aquarian Drumheads.

Deer Park Avenue will release their sophomore LP, Crucible, on September 6, 2024. “Crucible” is now playing on all platforms, including Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music. For more info, visit deerparkave.com.
